I'm happy to say that my clients have been getting multiple offers at this busy time of the recruitment season. What with the big job fairs happening in January & February, you will find new positions opening up, as teachers around the world attend these fairs and inform their schools that they're moving on in the summer. The best case scenario is one where you yourself are attending a job fair with an offer or two in your back pocket, then at the fair, you receive a couple more offers. But now you need to make a decision... How do you decide between multiple offers?
To help my clients with their big decision, I've created a Matrix for Comparing Offers, using two articles I've written for my website: The Top 10 Benefits to an International Teaching Contract and Job Search Tip #23 Before You Sign.
Plugging in the information from your contract offer into my matrix , you'll not only be able to compare offers side by side, but you'll also see what's missing and even see any red flags in your offer. You'll be comparing 1) the financial benefits offered, 2) the job and all that it entails, as well as 3) the city and country you're considering.
For example, did your offer mention an annual Professional Development stipend? Did they articulate what are your contractual extra-curricular activity or coaching obligations? How many sick days, personal days, bereavement days, and recruiting days have they listed? These are just a few of the questions you'll be able to examine when comparing offers from international schools around the world using my matrix.
Acccess to this decision-making matrix is just one of the many benefits of becoming a JPMint client. In addition to receiving a new CV and cover letter at international standards, you'll meet with me in a video call to discuss your documents and your next steps in your job search. I am there every step of the way, from application, to interviewing, to accepting an offer. What with my 20+ years of international experience and 50+ countries visited, I am your sounding board when you want to know more about a school or country. Think of me as your guide and personal cheerleader, encouraging you when things get tough, and celebrating your success when you receive an offer.
